Logline:
In a desperate bid to resurrect her fading photography career, an ambitious wildlife photographer discovers a secret island inhabited by African giants, forcing her to choose between the global recognition she craves and protecting an extraordinary culture from the outside world.
Synopsis:
Award-winning wildlife photographer Makena has watched her once-prestigious field deteriorate into superficial social media captures. Determined to revive true wilderness photography, she and her colleague embark on a daring expedition to document a mythical island shrouded in centuries of seafarer legends, hidden far off Somalia’s coast. After convincing a seasoned captain to transport them across treacherous waters, their journey takes a catastrophic turn when an unexpected storm devastates their vessel. The survivors wash ashore on the mysterious island, where exploration leads to an astonishing discovery: a hidden village inhabited by a community of African giants living in isolation from the outside world. As Makena documents this extraordinary society, her ambition for recognition clashes with ethical questions about exposure and preservation. What begins as a career-saving quest transforms into a profound journey of courage, cultural exchange, and sacrifice, forcing her to redefine what truly matters in both her art and her life.
