Synopsis:
In the fading quarry town of Dix Knob, Texas, three teenage outcasts—Teddy Nutscalder, Mickey O’Dell, and Tommy Crum—navigate lives defined by struggle and limited prospects. Everything changes when they encounter Missy Turnbow, a privileged Catholic schoolgirl contemplating suicide on a train trestle. After saving her, they discover her dark secret: her criminal stepfather’s predatory abuse. While working at a local bar, the boys stumble upon the abandoned “Cusser Club,” a prohibition-era fraternity hall with hidden passages they claim as their sanctuary. Meanwhile, the town buzzes with treasure hunters searching for the legendary “Treasure ‘O the Knob,” gold coins lost during a hurricane years earlier. As Teddy falls for Missy, their alliance faces mounting threats: Mickey is gravely wounded protecting his sister from a stalker, Teddy endures brutal beatings from his father, and the town bully publicly humiliates him. Pushed to his breaking point, Teddy finally fights back, setting a dangerous trap for his tormentor in an abandoned quarry. But this act of revenge merely marks the beginning of their troubles, as they become entangled in a web of treasure hunting, murder, mafia violence, and political sabotage that forces them to grow up faster than anyone should.
